At least one visit for the personal steps
For the residence and citizenship application process, plan at least one visit to Türkiye for the required fingerprints and personal appointments. The main applicant and accompanying spouse should coordinate their attendance with the legal team. Requirements for children and any further attendance are confirmed for the individual file.
This minimum travel plan is not a promise that every stage can be completed during one trip. Appointment schedules, institutional checks and additional requests may affect the arrangements. Confirm the required steps before making non-flexible travel bookings.
What a power of attorney can support
A suitably drafted power of attorney can support the other permitted legal and administrative work, including document coordination, certain investment transactions and follow-up. Its wording should match the task. A foreign-issued power may need authentication, Turkish translation and notarisation before it can be used.
What cannot simply be delegated
Fingerprints and a required personal application cannot be replaced by appointing a lawyer. Banks, registries and authorities can also require personal attendance for specific procedures. The legal team should confirm those requirements with the relevant institution for your case.
Before your trip
- Confirm which family members need to attend and bring identification.
- Review passport validity, entry status and the application documents.
- Complete the document and power-of-attorney preparation in good time.
- Confirm the appointments and allow for additional institutional requests.
Official sources
The NVI citizenship guidance requires personal application where fingerprints are compulsory and addresses representation in subsequent steps. The Migration Management guidance also explains that the administration can require an applicant to attend.
